Student Participation
Show me I see. Tell me I hear. Involve me, and I understand. The log tool is designed to spark student involvement of all ages using a mobile device, I pad, or PC to track the impact of rescued food. Students count/track the rescued food items and make regular entries (weekly recommended). Additionally, if students send a brief story and photo to [email protected] about what they are learning and why they are involved, Food Rescue will recognize them as National Student Leaders , which will include end of the year recognition with certificates and T shirts annually at no cost to the school.
Our National Student Leaders inspire many through creative story telling, including podcasts, video creation, video interviews, photo submissions, and blog post submissions that are all published on our website and linked to their picture to inspire their peers to follow their leadership.
While adults can make entries on the log tool, we want to make students the face of K-12 Food Rescue by involving them in the entire process of rescuing school food, including sharing the impact.

Spread the Word
Invite other schools who rescue food through share tables and donations to enter their data and acquire valuable graphics to inspire others and convey the impact of their program. Teachers, nutrition service directors, Eco clubs, student councils, students with special needs, and school administrators are all great candidates to use the Food Rescue log tool and lead K-12 Food Rescue in their school! There is no cost to use the Food Rescue log tool.
