One of the greatest challenges in our organization is explaining the marketing and educational resource distribution aspect of our organization. A common and reasonable not for profit use of time is to invest resources in managing and tracking infrastructure. At Food Rescue, we spend our time developing and marketing resources to inspire people to engage in the injustice of food waste in the world. Once this inspiration occurs, we don't spend our most valuable resource of time tracking the inspiration that comes from the daily impact of those efforts. We choose simply to tell stories, post pictures, and continue to develop new ways to inspire people nation wide to become engaged in the food waste issue Visitors do not arrive at our website by accident. We have an active marketing team of board members, (shout out to Bryndon Preston, Traci Dossett, Steve Witta, and Jennifer Brilliant, who regularly put thought into the educational resources we provide, the methods used to drive traffic to our website, and engage with site visitors. One example is the story of Tana Fox. Tana told me that she and her husband Ron were interested in learning more about rescuing food after visiting our site in 2014. We exchanged emails, and I sent her some resources....and then we spoke on the phone for some one on one mentoring on the subject. Since that time, she has updated Food Rescue on some progress made, but earlier this month, her email stated........... My husband and I have formed a nonprofit called Table of Grace Feeding Ministry in Ellwood City, PA, and it all started with your website and my food rescue in 2014. Tanis Fox Updates like this from Tana are a reminder to us as an organization to continue to plant seeds, and to stay true to our mission to demonstrate the love of God to people in the form of a meal by raising awareness of the alarming reality that 40% of our food is wasted while 1 in 6 are hungry. We will continue to share the stories of people who are impacting their community through leadership and action, and trust in faith that their story will be seen by others, and that they will be directed to resources found at the Food Rescue Website. If you are interested in seeing a small portion of Tana's journey, be sure to visit the Table of Grace Feeding Ministry Facebook Page below. Thanks for the note of encouragement Tana and Ron, and for all you have done to feed those in need in your community with rescued food. |
